Vitamins

Take your vitamins!  It seems simple enough but so many of us are deficient in important vitamins.  This is especially true for the important B-vitamins and vitamin D, many of which are important for nerves, muscles, and consequently pain. 


Deficiencies of vitamin B-12 and Folate can lead to a whole host of medical problems including nerve disease including neuropathy and brain damage.  Several large studies have demonstrated improvement in symptoms from neurologic conditions after supplementation including the painful conditions of peripheral neuropathy and post-shingles pain called post-herpetic neuralgia.


Depending on the study, 30-50% of the population globally is deficient or insufficient in Vitamin D. For such an essential vitamin, this is an alarming statistic.  When those with fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis are supplemented with additional vitamin D, they do better. Go figure!


What’s more, a study out of Vienna, Austria has shown dramatic reduction in fibromyalgia related pain and fatigue after giving deficient patients vitamin D.  A simple treatment for such debilitating symptoms--take your vitamins!
